Children’s Africana Book Awards – Washington, DC

The Children’s Africana Book Awards events will take place on Saturday, October 8 from 11 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art. Children, families, books, and book enthusiasts are encouraged to attend.
After a brief welcome and youth performance, attendees will be invited to visit various activities in the museum, including a chance to meet the winners of the 2016 CABA awards. The autograph session will take place in front of the Museum’s Gift Shop from 12:00-1:00 pm.
One Plastic Bag by Miranda Paul, illustrated by Elizabeth Zunon, was named a 2016 Notable book by the CABA committee among these remarkable books. The award dinner will take place the night before the festival, with additional area events to be announced.
